Sweater Weather

It's the second best day of the week!! (I'm a little biased toward MON-days! Speaking of, have you heard about the GIVEAWAY?!?! Check out the video in the post below for the easiest instructions EVER! :)

image.jpg

Since it's nearing Halloween, my outfits this month are tending to be inspired by characters or people I admire! Today's look: Audrey Hepburn! I am such a fan of hers!

image.jpg

This comfy sweater is from Express. Underneath is a tube from H&M for a little plot twist.

One of the things Audrey was known for was her long neck, so I had to pop the choker in there, along with a Giving Key for opposition.

image.jpg

And, finally, she wore those high-waisted capris (H&M), and flats.

Challenge: let your outfit be inspired by a character today!!

Happy Friday!

xoxo

Something Old, Something New

Happy Friday, loves!!

image.jpg

This is one of my favorite necklaces for two reasons: 1) it's big and chunky, And immediately transforms any plain tee! 2) it's from 31 bits, so the purchase of this necklace gave a woman a chance at rehabilitation and supporting herself and her family! BOOM!

image.jpg

I nabbed this skirt last season at Ann Taylor Loft. That isn't normally a store that calls my name, but I learned an important lesson: awesome pieces can come from ANYWHERE: high-end stores, thrift stores, Grandma's closet, cheap-stores, and stores targeting more mature women ;). And, in reverse, I've learned that even if a piece comes from a store that I absolutely LOVE, it doesn't always make it flattering or right for my style. Fashion is about being about to recognize YOU in any style or piece that makes you feel bold, confident, silly, or WHATEVER you're needing in the situation!

image.jpg

I love, love, LOVE these Target peep-toe boots! You can buy them RIGHT NOW! I adore the fringe on the sides! And, the top is Express. I love the plot twist of the sleeves!!

image.jpg

You are bold and courageous. Have a great weekend!

Adventure On

Ok, people, we are transitioning into fall!! For us Californians, that mostly means that we are shifting our colors to a more muted, darker palette. :)

image.jpg

Ok, here we go!! Sunglasses: Ray Bans. T Shirt: The Grove ( a boutique in Claremont!). Bracelet: Canned Goods (Each piece sold donates a can of food to those in need!). Shorts: Urban Outfitters (sale--whaaaat?!).

image.jpg

And because I'm not really into dark colors, I had to add my mermaid hair!! Did you know you can achieve a similar look with acrylic chalk? Just wet the chalk and paint your hair! It lasts for a few days, especially on blonde hair. To get this look, go for a gradient green to blue!

image.jpg

AAAAND have a great almost-fall weekend!!!

Fashion Friday: Transitional Fall Boho

It's still a bazillion degrees outside, but my heart is SO ready for fall!!

image.jpg

So, with a rustic-chic top from Target (holla!), and a long skirt from Forever 21, I'm I'm able to imagine a change in the season without dying of heat! But, who could resist a pop of color with these Target (once again!) wedges?!

image.jpg

And, of course, some mermaid hair to tie in with the skirt, and a Canned Goods bracelet, because it's not only adorable, but donates a can of food to those in need with each purchase!

image.jpg

What are your transitional fall outfits? Rock them this weekend! Enjoy!

xoxo

BoHo Baby

Hooray, it's Friday!!

image.jpg

Definitely trying to escape the summer heat with a little lightning bolt necklace and a jean vest!

image.jpg

Or, for a funkier vibe, switch out the dainty lightning bolt for a chunky statement piece.

image.jpg

This dress is from Target! (Target, how I love thee!)

image.jpg

Don't forget to belt it to create that hourglass shape.

image.jpg

AND HAVE FUN BECAUSE IT'S THE WEEKEND!! YEEHAW! :)

Mermaid!

Happy Friday, friends! When you get home from vacation and brother goes to college, sometimes there's nothing to do but dress up like a mermaid.

image.jpg

Can I get a "holla" for these blue hair extensions?! So thankful I got to keep them after working on "Hello, My Name is Doris!"

image.jpg

And hurrah for this mermaid skirt from Francesca's!

image.jpg

Plot Twist Challenge: Get inspired by your favorite fairytale character and channel the look. Because summer is almost over and WHY NOT?! :)

Groovy Ice Cream

Happy Fashion Friday from Wyoming!

image.jpg

Let's start with shoes: these booties extend the line of our legs to make us look oh so long and pretty!

image.jpg

And this is DEFINITELY a twirl-worthy dress. How adorable is the ice cream print?!

image.jpg

And, of course, get that classic Plot Twist vibe with quirky accessories, like these Canned Goods earrings (each pair purchased donates a can of food to those in need--score!), my 90's tattoo necklace, zany hair buns, and poppin' pink lipstick. PHEW! How are you keeping it quirky this weekend? Let me know!

xoxo, Ren

The Gladest Gladiator

Happy Fashion Friday, loves!

image.jpg

I'm definitely feeling a little gladiator-y in this look.

image.jpg

Since the top of this romper (from Target!) is so simple, it was a cue to add a giant, chunky necklace.

image.jpg

My #1 Fashion Rule: Always, always, always, cinch the waist. It is the quickest way to a flattering outfit!

image.jpg

Do you have your gladiator sandals yet? These are Fergalicious. And, so comfy!

Have an awesome weekend, friends!

Something Old, Something New

Yay, it's Fashion Friday!

image.jpg

This week, we're featuring something old and something new.

image.jpg

This top is from Target! I always get so excited to find cute pieces at pretty darn great prices!

image.jpg

This top wasn't flattering on my body type because it didn't have a waist, so I tied the shirt up in the back to create one!

image.jpg

And how happy are these daisy, high waisted mint shorts? They were a bit big in the waist, so I safety-pinned them. The quickest way to a flattering outfit is to make sure it fits. And if it doesn't, make it work! ;)

Have a great weekend, loves!

Vintage Beach Babe

Happy Friday, loves!

image.jpg

Whose ready to beat the heat with a vintage twist?

image.jpg

How fun are these seaside wedges? I love the contrast between the coral red and the bright turquoise.

image.jpg

Keeping the accessories mostly vintage with this pearl pendant necklace and anthropologie bracelet. But for a little plot twist: this turquoise stone bangle!

image.jpg

These pinstriped shorts make me think of the bathing tents people used to use to change at the beach, back when modest was "hottest."

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Pineapple Paradise

What says "summer" like pineapples? Load up on fruit merchandise this season! It's definitely in! Keep your eyes open at all times for great finds. I snagged this one at Disneyland by the Indiana Jones ride! :)

And, of course, hats off to the star of the show, this parasol from Huntington Gardens! It's perfect for a stroll on the grounds of a museum, or the beach to keep the sunburn at bay!

I am a huge believer in lipstick--especially if the outfit itself isn't too bright! And layer up that jewelry :) Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday: Independence Day!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone... almost! Time to pull out any and all patriotic regalia that you have! What says "America" more than denim?

Stripes on stripes and blue on blue are totally acceptable for this holiday. Anything goes, as long as you're showing your USA pride!

Thank you to all who served and fought to keep our country free! Have a great Fourth, everyone! xoxo

Rainbow Flamingo

Confession: I've wanted to get rid of this dress for about five years now. I kept thinking that it was just too weird. I'm all about being different, but, I wasn't sure if I could rock something this different.

A comment I often get is, "I could never pull that off!" I disagree. I think "pulling it off" is a choice. If you wear it, you've done it! I'm so glad I got up the courage to pull this out of the back of my closet and give it another chance!

What's that one piece in your closet you bought when you were feeling brave, and haven't yet found "the right time" or "the right place" to wear it? This weekend, take it out and WEAR it!

In the long run, I absolutely believe that fashion is silly. But, it can be an expression of creativity, and an exercise in boldness. That's what this dress is for me. What are you waiting for? Go for it! Work that outfit you've been too nervous to wear. You've got this :)

Sweet Summer

Are you a part of the Anthropologie mailing list? If so, you get 15% off your total purchase during your birthday month! I love the store, but it's a bit too expensive for me without that gift card. Pictured above is my birthday acquisition! Woo!

I love the halter and the lace detailing! To draw even more attention to the halter, I added this Free People choker (also on sale!).

And to keep it casual, I added my favorite Urban Outfitters cutoffs.

My Plot Twist? My Ray-Ban glasses, which are a quirky twist to this elegant halter. Have a great weekend!

Fashion Friday: Shear Love

Happy Friday, loves!!

image.jpg

Dear friends, let me tell you a little story.

My friend Dianna is a hairdresser who is changing the world. She rescues women from the human trafficking industry, and then teaches them how to cut hair so that they can support their families. HOW INCREDIBLE IS THAT?!

image.jpg

Her ministry has spanned Mexico, Kenya, Brazil, Cambodia, and now, Thailand! She is my hero. It so inspires me that she uses what she loves to make a difference!

image.jpg

Every shirt sold goes straight to supporting Shear Love's school in Thailand. What are you waiting for?! Purchase a shirt HERE, and tell the world about this incredible woman who is changing the world, one haircut at a time!

Sunshine & My Trades of Hope

Happy Friday, loves!

image.jpg

It's a Disney day! :) Elephant top and jean jumper from H&M.

image.jpg

And, above all, I am thrilled to feature this necklace from Trades of Hope! This company empowers women out of poverty through job creation and sustainable business. This necklace was handcrafted by women in India, where women's educations are often neglected. Sweatshops are generally the only work option for most women, and the caste-system causes heart-breaking discrimination. By purchasing this necklace, we have the opportunity to give these artisans a chance to rewrite their stories! Click HERE to change the world, snag a necklace, and continue this great work!

image.jpg

I get compliments on it every time I wear this Mediterranean Strands Necklace, but my favorite part is getting to share the stories of these women!

For more information on this incredible company, follow JoLynn on Instagram @jo.plantinghope !

image.jpg

Let's get fruity! Is it a grapefruit? Or a lemon? Who knows! But it's adorable and full of sunshine!

Stars and Stripes

image.jpg

Happy Memorial Day, friends!!

image.jpg

Jumping into the weekend with my patriotic Vans! They have little stripes on them and everything!

image.jpg

And, as it's Memorial Day Weekend, why not go all out on the stripes?!

image.jpg

And... I couldn't help but toss my Deathly Hallows necklace in there for a little Plot Twist! (Thanks, Hope!)

Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country! I am absolutely proud to be an American, and thankful for those who fight for our freedom! xoxo
